Nowadays, it goes without saying that tourism pays an extremely imortant role in both the improvment of local economies and the damage of the environment. Hardly a day goes by without the effects of tourism being noticed worldwide.
As far as the environment is concerned, not only does touism have a negative impact on nature, since many tourists contribute to pollution, but it may also harm the pristine places, which must be transformed in order to attract more people.
On the other hand, there are also several ways in which tourism positively affects many countries. For instance, it contributes considerably to local economies because many tourists spend a fortune when buying souvenirs, ckecking in expensive hotels or dining at posh restaurants.
Taking into the account the areas mentioned above, the environment is definitely more severely affected by tourism because time and again, forests are being cut down in order to make place for parking lots or build mansions, thus destroying the wildlife.
All in all, altough tourism maybe a blessing to local economies, its negative impact on the environment undoubtedly makes it a major drawback.
